Project

Conducting a Statewide Needs Assessment and Environmental Scan to Promote a Sustainable DD Navigator

Project Description:
The goal of this project is to conduct a needs assessment and environmental scan to understand the potential professional scope, context, responsibilities and sustainability of "DD Navigators" to act as liaison and advocate for refugees with disabilities. We will be working closely with stakeholders, like the International Rescue Committee, throughout Arizona to conduct an environmental scan and needs assessment to inform the implementation and sustainability of Refugee DD Navigators. Since refugee resettlement has been halted by the Federal Government as of January 2025, our environmental scan will enable us to understand the current landscape of social services for refugees with disabilities and help collaborators plan for the future. Statewide, we will be evaluating needs related to disability-information for refugees and existing infrastructure among organizations (e.g. Councils on Aging, Federally Qualified Health Centers) that serve refugees.
