Project Description:
This was a journal article submission. The abstract is: This study explores a participatory workshop designed to help organizations transition from compliance-based disability frameworks to a Disability Justice approach. Conducted with approximately 35-40 staff members at a center serving children with developmental disabilities, the workshop used two structured activities—a Word Cloud and a Matrix Activity—to explore perceptions of disability and assign participants one of four reflective leadership roles: Disability Ally, Disability Community Builder, Disability Evaluator, or Disability Pathfinder. Participants reported increased self-awareness, role clarity, and appreciation for shared leadership. Reflections emphasized the fluidity of these roles and importance of mutual accountability. The matrix tool proved effective in strengthening communication, advocacy, and equity. Overall, structured reflection supported individual growth and meaningful organizational culture change.
