Research: (CLASS) Communication Learning and AAC for Student Success
Project Description:
The purpose of this study, Communication Learning and AAC for Student Success (CLASS), is to explore and support augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) usage within elementary classrooms (Kindergarten - 5th grade). CLASS aims to understand barriers and facilitators to AAC usage in classrooms, as well as increase the frequency and quality of AAC usage for autistic elementary students using these devices during school. The potential impact of this study is the increased understanding about and wider spread usage of AAC in schools, providing autistic students with increased opportunities to engage academically and socially.
