ADvancing States National Technology Survey
Project Description:
The scope of work proposes a partnership between the Kansas University Center on Disabilities, State of the States Team (hereafter KU), and ADvancing States to design and deploy a national survey of technology use and barriers identified in policy and practice by the 56 states and territorial agencies on aging and disabilities and long-term services. One goal of the proposed project is to align the new ADvancing States survey questions with the validated questions on the Technology Solutions State Survey authored by KU and the National Association of State Directors of Developmental Disabilities Services (NASDDDS). This survey was used to collect data in fiscal years 2019 and 2024 from state developmental disability agencies nationwide. The subsequent report, Technology 2.0: Understanding the advancements in technology solutions for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, focused on three major themes: funding for technology solutions, service or operational specifications, and benchmarking for Technology First Systems Change. The upcoming data collection cycles of the national Technology Solutions State Survey are planned for 2026 and 2028 to examine changes over time in technology-related funding, policies, and practice.
