Project Description:
The general purpose of the Debbie School Auditory-Oral Education Project is to support the specific needs identified on individual students Individualized Family Support Plan (IFSP) and Individual Educational Plan (IEP) provided for young children with hearing loss who are enrolled in the Auditory-Oral Education Program, to provide family and community outreach activities, and to provide consultation and support to other counties in South Florida. The program provides an educational environment where children who are deaf or hard of hearing learn to communicate by listening and talking. Our specialists work in collaboration with Miami-Dade County Public Schools and the Florida Department of Health Early Steps Programs (Early Steps North Dade and Early Steps Southernmost Coast, serving south Miami-Dade County and Monroe County), and The Children's Trust.
