DDBP Clinical, Training, Research, and Continuing Education Programs
Project Description:
The Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics (DDBP) clinical diagnostic evaluation/treatment programs serve infants, children, adolescents, and young adults with a wide variety of complex disabilities and their families, including specific underserved populations such as children with hearing impairments. Diagnostic evaluation services focus on providing comprehensive evaluations of the infant/child/adolescent/young adult to identify the individual?s strengths and offer the ground work for an unique family centered care plan. The professionals involved in the evaluation process include, based on individualized needs, those in the disciplines of audiology, developmental-behavioral/neurodevelopmental pediatrics, nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, clinical psychology, social work, special education, speech pathology, and other related disciplines. Members of these teams work with the family in developing a plan to help their child reach his/her full potential. In developing the plan, the team works closely with other professionals at Children?s Hospital Medical Center and community-based organizations to provide individualized programs of ongoing care with the goal of leading productive and fulfilling lives as contributing members of their communities. Treatment services are provided through specialty programs (i.e. Spina Bifida, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Transition, etc.) and by individual faculty/staff in such areas as medication management, speech and language therapy and behavioral therapy.
