Project Description:
From 2016 to 2021, the Massachusetts Partnership on Transition to Employment worked with stakeholders to address four priority areas: cross system collaboration, self-advocacy and self-determination, family engagement and work experience. The project builds off the work of MPTE, to develop a 5-year plan for transition to employment for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Within the overall plan, issues regarding the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the need to address racial disparities will be addressed. Specific goals include: 1) Continue existing partnerships by launching and regularly convening an updated version of the cross agency, multi stakeholder consortium and Steering Committee established under the MPTE; (2) Conduct a Comprehensive Review and Analysis of current policies related to transition from school to work; (3) Use a formative and consensus-based process to craft a strategic plan to extend and update the work of the MPTE.
