Project Description:
Early childhood partnerships with state agencies
CEDD staff participate in various state agency-sponsored advisory groups and interagency collaboratives, and provide technical assistance to various state agencies, including Public Health, Education, and Developmental Services. Examples include:
(1) CEDD faculty member, Kathy Angkustsiri, MD, is CEDD's representative on the California State Interagency Coordinating Council on Early Intervention, which provides oversight and input to the California Department of Developmental Services on issues related to implementation of Part C services in California.
(2) CEDD staff member Benita Shaw provides technical assistance on The State Council on Developmental Disabilities Regional Advisory Council
(3) CEDD faculty member Dr. Aubyn Stahmer and staff member Steve Ruder conduct evaluations of SDM grants and provide implementation support to grantees for the Supported Decision Making-Technical Assistance Program and Self Determination led by the State Council on Developmental Disabilities.
(4) Staff member Amber Fitzgerald leads the California Early Start Network. The project uses videoconferencing to maintain a support network of early intervention programs to: (1) Disseminate information about California Early Start issues/policies/practices; (2) Problem-solve together; (3) Share resources and techniques; and (4) Support each other.
