Project Description:
The Center on Community Living and Careers (CCLC) will continue to operate the Indiana Benefits Information Network (BIN) Program, providing training and technical assistance in the areas of benefits counseling and general benefits knowledge. CCLC will provide all training and certifications for BIN Liaisons via online synchronous, asynchronous, and self-paced options along with structured and informal technical assistance available via phone, email, and video conference options. Ongoing technical assistance and benefits plan review and feedback are provided to all BIN Liaisons throughout the year.
CCLC will provide training and information to educators, parents, disability advocacy groups, and others on general benefits knowledge and information. CCLC will offer Work and Disability, an online, self-paced course, four times a year. CCLC will also provide both in-person and webinar training each year that provides a general overview of disability benefits, work incentives, and/or asset development.
CCLC will respond to requests for assistance with benefits and provide appropriate referral information to families, students, and professionals seeking additional guidance. CCLC benefits staff will attend the weekly CCLC open office hours (currently Thursdays 2:30-4:30) and offer this time to meet with any key stakeholders who have benefits questions and promote this time for individual technical assistance in training information.
CCLC will update the content of all benefits training curriculums in all forms (in-person and virtual) annually. CCLC will work with VR to develop or revise and implement changes to the benefits services offered by VR and delivered by BIN Liaisons to VR-eligible participants. As the services are revised and new are added, CCLC will provide additional training on the changes to services to all BIN Liaisons and VR Counselors, monitor the implementation of those new services, and collaborate with VR to address any concerns.
