Project Description:
This proposed project builds upon and strengthens the existing training requirements outlined by the Department of Workforce Services – Utah State Office of Rehabilitation (DWS-USOR). By expanding on these foundational training requirements, Utah State University (USU) will continue to play a key role in advancing the skills and effectiveness of employment support professionals across the state. Specifically, USU will enhance and expand its training in both Workplace Supports (WPS) and Customized Employment, equipping community rehabilitation providers (CRPs) with the necessary tools to facilitate sustainable, competitive, and integrated employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. This project will refine existing training models by integrating the latest research, case studies, and hands-on application strategies, ensuring that CRPs have access to the most effective, evidence-based practices. Through this expansion, USU aims to increase provider capacity, improve employment retention rates, and strengthen collaboration between CRPs, employers, and vocational rehabilitation professionals. By fostering a skilled and knowledgeable workforce, this project will help drive long-term improvements in employment outcomes for job seekers with disabilities while supporting the broader goals of DWS-USOR.
