Project Description:
The Utah Assistive Technology Program (UATP) will host Adaptive Adventures: Assistive Technology Awareness Day to celebrate 36 years of empowering individuals with disabilities through assistive technology (AT). This public event will raise awareness, promote inclusion, and showcase how AT supports independence. Held in an accessible park, activities will include a wheelchair obstacle course, adaptive sports like frame running and archery, and hands-on demonstrations of AT devices such as communication aids and smart home tools. Short workshops will provide practical training, and community booths will connect attendees to resources and services. The event fosters networking among individuals with disabilities, families, service providers, and AT professionals. By combining recreation, technology exploration, and resource sharing, Adaptive Adventures highlights the transformative role of AT while strengthening community connections and advancing UATP's mission to ensure independence and opportunity for people of all abilities.
