Project Description:
The Institute for Disability Research, Policy & Practice (IDRPP) is Utah's University Center for Excellence in Disabilities, one of 67 such programs located at research universities throughout the nation. The IDRPP promotes the independence, community inclusion, exercise of choices and improvements in the quality of life of people with disabilities and their families. Since 1972, the Administration on Developmental Disabilities (ADD) has provided core support for the administration and program development activities of the IDRPP. The federally mandated core functions include interdisciplinary education, dissemination of information, exemplary services, and research and evaluation. IDRPP faculty and staff who receive support from ADD core funds engage with other agencies and organizations of people with developmental disabilities to (1) provide technical assistance and consultation to federal, state, and local service agencies, *2) help link resources, and (3) promote systems change. IDRPP faculty and staff generate external funding for these activities, currently conducted through approximately 70 programs and projects.
