Project Description:
The overall goal of the TIES-OSPI two year contract contract is to align and support OSPI's priority to increase the inclusion of students with disabilities in general education, with a specific focus on students with extensive support needs.
The specific activities include:
- The integration of TIES Comprehensive Inclusive Education:General Education and the Inclusive IEP material into Washington's technical assistance material,
- Updating existing Myths and Facts About Inclusionary Practices materials,
- Creating three additional Myths and Facts About Inclusionary Practices materials,
- Expanding sections of Inclusive Education Professional Learning Plan professional development to include high school,
- Creating and conducting statewide trainings per year on inclusive IEPs,
- Developing and delivering webinar trainings based on the Myths and Facts About Inclusionary Practices,
- Providing direct technical assistance to district and school personnel that utilize the expanded Inclusive Education Professional Learning Plan resources, and
- Creating resources and examples illustrating incorporation of the WA-AIM Access Points and Washington standards into elementary and secondary reading and math instruction.
OSPI and the TIES Center will be co-branding the content that is developed and disseminated by both organizations. Dissemination strategies include joint presentations of the content and sharing at Washington conferences. Collaboration also occurs with other state organizations through the Inclusive Practices Technical Network (IPTN) of which the TIES Center is a member. The expected benefits of this contract are (1) achieving the primary goal of the contract to increase the inclusion of students with disabilities in general education, particularly students with extensive support needs, (2) Stronger working relationships between OSPI and the TIES Center and the organizations in the IPTN, and (3) Greater use of the materials that are being developed across the state of Washington.
