Project Description:
The goal of this project "Time to Act: A Training Program to Address Critical Gaps in Mental Health Care for People with IDD" is to improve the quality of mental health care by providing continuing medical education (CME) to mental health providers that addresses the unique needs of patients with IDD through a disability justice lens. We intend to achieve this goal through the following objectives and activities: Objective 1: Advisory group members, including people with IDD, their caregivers, and providers, will report that the CME courses reflect a disability justice perspective and address priority concerns in mental health care delivery. Objective 2: Develop and deliver CME courses to at least 100 providers in the first year though OHSU COMPASS system and through state and national provider networks. Objective 3: Upon completion of the CME course, providers will report increased knowledge, skills and confidence working with patients with IDD.
