Dose Response Effect of Aerobic Exercise
Project Description:
This project looks at the essential factors that cause improvement in function in persons with stroke. Specifically, the study will:
a) compare physiological and psychological performance gains at three different intensity (low, low moderate, high moderate) and duration levels (15, 30, and 45 minutes)
b) compare changes in function performance (e.g. performiing ADL and IADL at a lower energy cost and heart rate) and fatigue levels between aerobic training conditions and a conventional rehabilitation program for stroke survivors
c) evaluate the safety of aerobic exercise training at various intensity/duration levels
d) determine the optimal exercise intensity and the most accurate method for prescribing exercise intensity for aerobically training stroke survivors.
