USDE PROJECT INA MONA YR1
Project Description:
Project Ina Mona represents University of Guam's (UOG) commitment to co-creating preparation and certification training programs to meet the demands for fully certified special education teachers in the Pacific Basin. Project Ina Mona serves as the proa (voyaging canoe) to guide the co-creation of preparation and certification programs to build the diversity of personnel in the field of special education to improve educational results for children with disabilities in the Pacific Basin. The co-creation engagement demonstrates how UOG brings together our island communities to think, dialogue, and act for the future. Thus, allowing our children with disabilities and their families to "shine ahead". Specifically, Project Ina Mona will (1) increase the number of fully certified special educators from ethnically diverse backgrounds in the Pacific Basin, (2) increase UOG's offerings to address the special education teacher shortages in the Pacific Basin, and (3)
increase UOG's faculty capacity to design, deliver, and sustain the co-created newly developed preparation and certification programs in special education.
