TRACI: Montana Implementation of Disability- Related Definitions for Syndromic Surveillance During Public Health Emergencies
Project Description:
As a subaward recipient on a project being led by the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists, the University of Montana (UM) Rural Institute for Inclusive Communities is coordinating with the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (MTDPHHS) and its Epidemiology and Scientific Support Bureau (ESSB) and Montana Disability and Health Program (MTDH) as well as two Montana Centers for Independent Living and local emergency management on this project that will describe health care utilization patterns among people with and without disability before, during and after a windstorm. The project will demonstrate the use new queries developed for the National Syndromic Surveillance Program to disaggregate data by disability status. Specifically, this project will organize a steering committee and project team to plan, conduct and report on health care following DR-4813-MT- a devastating derecho, a rare straight-line windstorm that occurred on July 24, 2024 in Missoula and Powell counties. The project findings and products will be coordinated by CSTE with work of two other subawards into a toolkit to support future NSSP and related syndromic surveillance and data modernization projects.
