Project Description:
The New England Center (NEC) Deafblind Project provides information, support and technical assistance to student who are deafblind and their families in four New England states including NH, MA, CT and ME. The NEC has contracted with the IOD to provide NH with a family specialist. Ann dillon fills this position, working approximately one day per week for the project. the position entails working out of the ATECH offices in Concord, providing phone support ( information on supports and services, discussion of communication systems, parent supports, etc) to families, assiting with yearly census, providing input into the in-state and multi-state teams. In addition, written correspondence via notes, newsletter information and emails is provided wen appropriate. Because of the project, it is expected that the state and project will include family-focussed goals in its work, families will become more knowledgeable on deafblind issues and have a resource available to assist them with questions around deafblind issues, supports and services.
