NY Center for Diabetes Translational Research
Project Description:
The NY-CDTR (5P30DK111022-10) supportd type 2 translational research on diabetes and obesity and foster further collaborative efforts to drive cutting-edge translational research throughout the New York region, with Einstein as a central collaborating hub for these efforts. Work is focused in the New York City metropolitan area, which is a population-dense, urban area with documented health and health care disparities for diabetes and obesity. Diabetes and related conditions are positively associated with disability (Bardenheier et.al. Diabetes Care; January 2, 2025). Persons with intellectual/developmental disabilities are 2-3 times as likely to develop diabetes (Oyetoro et. al. Advances in Medicine; January 2023). I am a member of the Life Course Methodology Core. In this role, I participate in grant applications, pilot grant reviews for the NY-CDTR, and am available as a mentor. In addition, my role on the NY-CDTR has provided a network of researcher for participation in my ICTR-funded "Disability as Difference: Reducing Researcher Roadblocks" project.
