BANNA: Developmental Disabilities Program Plain Language

Project Description:
People with developmental disabilities, their families, and support workers need to understand important information from the Montana Developmental Disabilities Program (DDP). Right now, many DDP documents are hard to read because they use complicated words, confusing formats, and technical language. This can make it hard for people to know their rights, stay safe, or speak up for themselves. The goal of this project is to rewrite several important DDP documents in plain language, so they are clear and easy to understand. These documents include the Incident Management Manual, the Personal Support Plan Manual, and other guides that help people know what to do and what support they can get. We work with people who have disabilities to review drafts and give feedback. Their input helps make sure the updated documents really work for the people who use them. This project is special because it centers the voices of people with disabilities. The result is clearer information, better safety, stronger self-advocacy, and more trust in DDP services for people and families across Montana.
