Living and working with Long COVID

Project Description:
The goals of this project are to (1) understand how individuals with disabilities, particularly those with intersectional identities, are living and working with Long COVID and (2) test a novel intervention (job crafting) to promote positive work outcomes. Job crafting is an informal, idiosyncratic, strengths-based approach where employees are redefining and renegotiating their daily job tasks by modifying the physical, cognitive, and relational boundaries inherent in the job tasks. Incorporating principles of participatory action research, we will use an intersectionality framework to carry-out our research projects. Our objectives are to (1) use nationally representative survey and administrative data to examine Long COVID risk and patterns of treatment; (2) test the efficacy of a job crafting intervention to improve work engagement, work performance, and reduce burnout; and (3) conduct a systematic review to estimate the prevalence and incidence of Long COVID among individuals with disabilities. Anticipated outcomes include deeper understanding and increased knowledge of how individuals with Long COVID live and work in the community. The expected products include webinar and conference presentations, peer-reviewed articles, reports, plain language summaries, social media posts, and job aids.
