Project Description:
In collaboration with Portland State University (PSU), University of Kansas (KU), under direction of Dana Lattin (Co-PI) will provide project coordination on the development of Transition Coalition Self-Study (TCSS+): Enhancing a Team-Based Professional Development to Improve Outcomes across all four years of the project. Year 1: KU will provide project communication to stakeholders to organize and launch all year 1 activities focusing on development of the prototype and will support PSU with the virtual focus group targeting feasibility and sustainability issues during the design phase. In addition, KU staff will assist with the E-TISE measure for teachers, meeting with content experts and assisting with the measurement development efforts including recruitment of participants and incorporating the coaching model into the TCSS+. KU will engage in revisions and development of the TCSS+ content, facilitator and team manuals as well as active participation in the design, development and implementation of the coaching model and the TCSS+ Online Fidelity Approach (TOFA). KU staff will work with PSU web designer to ensure usability and application of the outcomes of the design phase. Year 2: KU will support the feasibility and fidelity of implementation of the TCSS+ through a variety of project management activities including guiding the development of the TCSS+ printed and online product development and design, recruiting, and on-boarding the TCSS+ teams, and providing coaching and support during the implementation of the TCSS+. KU staff will collaborate with the web developer and fidelity expert on the design, development and launch of the TOFA. Finally, staff will support data collection and consult on the data and fidelity analyses. Year 3: The primary responsibilities of KU will be to identify team members and their participating students and coordinate the pilot study teams. This will include coordinating pre- and post-intervention measures (i.e. knowledge test, IEPs, TAGG, VSSE, and teacher self-efficacy scale). KU will implement the intervention and will support activities to appropriately engage the control group to decrease attrition. Finally, once post-data is collected among all participants, KU will collaborate with PSU to provide the control group the intervention during the spring. Year 4: KU will assist in data analysis including organizing and participating on the IEP review to score IEPs based on the IEP Coding rubric (Doren, Flannery, Lombardi, & Kato, 2012). In addition, after final adjustments are made to the TCSS+ materials, KU will make final edits to the TCSS+ products (both print and online materials, websites, coaching approach, TOFA, etc.). Upon analysis of data, KU project staff will assist in manuscript development, and support conference and webinar presentations about the TCSS+, effective professional development, and results of the project. Finally, KU staff will work with the participating LEA's and SEA's to identify and support dissemination efforts, and will coordinate with national organizations and projects (e.g., NTACT:C, DCDT, the Beach Center on Disability) to develop and implement dissemination strategies to their audiences.
