Project Description:
The objectives of Project REDD are to: 1. Conduct high-quality research and evaluation studies on how disasters affect individuals with disabilities in their families, and 2. Provide research-based training, education, and outreach on the topic of disability and disaster for organizations, service providers, and individuals. Project REDD continued to provide training, technical assistance, and educational materials in the State of Texas on the support and resource needs of individuals with disabilities or other functional needs. The REDDy Directory (REsources on Disaster and Disability) was originally project co-funded by AIDD and AUCD in 2017 to respond to the needs of people with disabilities following Hurricane Harvey. The REDDy Directory has been a collaboration between the Center on Disability and Development at Texas A&M University and the Texas Center for Disability Studies at the University of Texas. Research centered on disaster and disability remains as an ongoing focus within the Center on Disability and Development. Dr. Marcia Montague is the lead researcher pursuing this focus.
