Project Description:
Nevada Project ECHO (Expanding Community Healthcare Outcomes) is an ideal platform to provide the type of technical assistance required for the implementation of evidence-based First-Episode Psychosis programs in Nevada. Utilizing highly accessible teleconnection technology, Project ECHO connects teams of practitioners in remote communities (the spokes) via laptop computers to an interdisciplinary hub team of experts located at the University of Nevada, Reno. The ultimate end result is a merging of the Spokes and Hub participants into a vital and supportive learning community that enhances the professional development and expertise of all. To meet the requested technical assistance needs of the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health "NAVIGATE" First-Episode Psychosis Programs, Nevada Project ECHO has developed four different topical Project ECHO tele-mentoring clinics to support clinicians working in the state demonstration model First-Episode Psychosis programs, as well as to support mental health clinicians who treat individuals with psychosis throughout the state. 1) Diagnosis and Assessment of first episode psychosis (FEP) and early serious mental illness (ESMI): The purpose of this clinic is to provide expert consultation around the DSM-5 diagnosis of mental illness in young adults. 2) Psychopharmacology: The purpose of this clinic is to provide expert consultation around medication treatment of serious mental illness and psychosis. 3) Health, Wellness and Co-Occurring Medical Disorders: The purpose of this clinic is to provide expert consultation around the integration of physical wellness with psychiatric treatment, particularly for individuals with psychosis. 4) Psychotherapy: The purpose of this clinic will be to provide consultation and supervision from expert psychotherapists to enhance the individual psychotherapy work of FEP/ESMI mental health providers with their individual clients.
