Improving Assistive Technology Access

Center:
Fiscal Year:
2025
Contact Information:
Project Description:
This project has two primary purposes. First, it enables us to modernize the inventory in our two Assistive Technology Resource Centers, enabling Delawareans of all ages and profiles to learn about the technology tools that can make their lives safer and more satisfying. In addition, we are undertaking a multifaceted initiative to increase the appropriate, responsible and empowering deployment of technology for the benefit of young children and students in our early childhood and PreK-12 systems. In collaboration with the Delaware Department of Education, the project will establish statewide assistive technology guidance for early childhood and Prek_12 settings and will offer assistive technology training, consultation and coaching to educators statewide. To characterize the current state of assistive technology access and use for these populations, the project undertook an interview study with educators, families and students in 2022-2023 and will launch a survey of Delaware educators and administrators in Fall 2023.
