Project Description:
This project will expand the capacity of the public health workforce in CT to meet the needs of people with disabilities through the provision of TA to IHEs and local health departments to develop, improve or expand pre-service and in-service education and learning activities. The project will increase the capacity of graduate programs in public health to provide courses and coursework on disability and public health through on-going technical assistance and training, and development of an online module. The project will increase the capacity of local health departments in the state to meet the needs of persons with disabilities through a survey of local health directors to assess the TA they need to provide training to their staff and community about the needs of persons with disabilities. and providing follow-up technical assistance and training. Additional community trainings and workshops on integrating disability into public health education, partnering with disability organizations, and making accessible content will be provided.
