Project Description:
The UConn UCEDD will generate, translate, and disseminate interdisciplinary research, evaluation findings, and outcome-based practices through interdisciplinary preservice and continuing education, community trainings, technical assistance, and service demonstrations to enable all of CT residents with disabilities and their families to receive appropriate, and effective supports and services to enhance their quality of life. Since its founding, the UConn UCEDD has assisted in the advancement of early intervention, health care, community-based services, meaningful education, child care, transition from school to work, employment, recreation and quality assurance, housing, assistive technology, transportation, and/or family support. Our activities are guided by a belief in self-determination, natural support, and collaboration with organizations to address policy issues and systems change. Currently, the UConn UCEDD addresses the following areas of emphasis listed in the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 2000: early childhood intervention, schools, health, and quality of life.
