Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education Leadership Institute
Project Description:
The purpose of this leadership program is collaboratively address need for early childhood intervention personnel with the CT Office of Early Childhood. The are personnel shortages for leaders in early intervention (EI) and early childhood special education (ECSE). The leadership program provides training to EI and ECSE administrative staff working with infants and young children with disabilities and their families to ensure that they will have the necessary skills and knowledge to be successful leaders in ECI programs and systems. The CT early childhood leadership institute is 1 year competency based leadership course with a curriculum that focuses on Foundational Leadership Skills, Operational Leadership Skills and Strategic Leadership Skills. Over the course of 5 years, one hundred staff EI and ECSE in CT, will receive training in the knowledge, skills, and competencies to improve the state, regional and local early childhood system serving infants and young children with disabilities and their families.
