Early Childhood Intervention Personnel Center (ECIPC)
Project Description:
The purpose of the Early Childhood Intervention Personnel Center (ECIPC) is to provide technical assistance to institutions of higher education, state agencies, professional organizations, territories, and tribal nations to increase their capacity to attract, prepare, and retain a qualified, competent, interdisciplinary, and effective workforce in early childhood intervention
The project has five core objectives:
1) Increase the capacity of institutions of higher education (IHEs) with early childhood intervention preparation programs to develop, implement, and sustain a program of study centered within a personnel framework that is aligned with national professional organization personnel standards, state personnel standards, and evidence-based practices (EBPs).
2) Increase the capacity of States to revise and implement state personnel standards that are aligned to national professional organization personnel standards and competencies that reflect the knowledge, skills, competencies, and dispositions that early childhood intervention personnel need to deliver effective interventions and services for infants and young children with disabilities and their families.
3) Attract, prepare, and graduate ECI scholars from IHEs Programs that use the ECI personnel framework.
4) Build state infrastructure and partnerships with IHEs to attract, prepare, and retain a qualified and competent workforce.
5) Recruit and retain early childhood intervention faculty.
The results of the ECIPC will include Increased numbers of early childhood IHE programs of study that use the ECI personnel framework and increased numbers of personnel employed in ECI state and local systems and programs.
