Project Description:
Dr. Schweitzer undertakes research activities in etiology, assessment, treatment, and outcomes, using neuroscience, behavioral and technological methods. Her research offers neuroscience research activities in ADHD and the development of evidence-based training and treatment models for ADHD throughout the lifespan. Over the next five years, translational research activities in ADHD will include 1) testing compensatory functional behavioral activities in ADHD and explore ways that this compensatory behavior (e.g., fidgeting) might lead to novel treatments; 2) focus on how technology (e.g., virtual reality therapy) can support improved attention in ADHD; 3) investigate the presence of attentional symptoms and impulsivity in other neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g., ASD and DD); and 4) explore how the environment relates to ADHD symptoms in the general population.
