Project Description:
Core funding supports the administration and operation of the Guam Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research, and Service (CEDDERS) in the implementation of following core functions and goals:
1) Interdisciplinary Pre-Service Preparation - To increase the number of skilled UCEDD long-term trainees through pre-service preparation in partnership with DD/ID and family members from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds as key personnel for curriculum development, course delivery, mentorship, presentations, and practicum experience.
2) Continuing Education - To expand the knowledge base and maintain credentials of skilled professionals through continuing education programs in partnership with individuals with DD/ID and family members from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds as key personnel for curriculum development, course delivery, mentorship, presentations, and practicum experience.
3) Community Services Training & Technical Assistance - Increase inclusion in all aspects of community life for individuals with DD/ID and their families through training that enhances knowledge and skills of a variety of community members to minimize disparities, increase access, and enrich daily living.
4) Community Services: Model Services - Increase the quality of life for individuals with DD/ID through model services that enhance the well-being and status of individuals with disabilities.
5) Community Services: Demonstration Services - Increase inclusion in all aspects of community life for individuals with DD/ID and their and their families through demonstration services that test promising or exemplary services/practices.
6) Research - To increase the number and quality of research activities, public policy analyses, and evaluation studies that engage culturally and linguistically diverse individuals with DD/ID and their families in the
design and analysis of research/evaluation that supports the expansion of knowledge, the efficacy of supports, and the development of public policy.
7) Information Dissemination - To increase public awareness of prioritized, emerging disability issues utilizing wide range of accessible multi-media formats to facilitate positive outcomes for IWDD/ID and their families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
8) Leveraging Resources - To increase Guam CEDDERS external resources to conduct and compliment the CORE functions of the UCEDD.
