Project

National Initiative to address COVID-19 Health Disparities Among Populations at High-Risk

Center:
Fiscal Year:
2025
Contact Information:
Project Description:
To help strengthen the public health systems of rural areas in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Institute for Disability Research, Policy and Practice proposes a two-pronged approach: 1) first, we will convene and facilitate multi-sector coalitions or advisory groups that include members of underserved communities and organizations that serve the community; and 2) we will build community capacity to reach disproportionately affected populations with effective culturally and linguistically tailored programs. This will be accomplished by coordinating outreach in partnership with USU extension to build coalitions with traditional organizations (e.g., public health, healthcare) and non-traditional partners (e.g., community health workers, churches, transportation providers, social workers, and employers).
