Ecuador Child Development Efforts
Project Description:
This study proposes to examine family risks and protective factors that may influence the development of young children living in the Amazon region of Ecuador. Identifying these risks and protective factors can support the development of targeted interventions that help prevent loss of developmental potential in young children. This study will build on data collected from 50 Indigenous families when their children were 18-36 months old by assessing these same children who will be 40-67 months old in June-July 2023. An executive functioning (EF) measure will be included in this second assessment along with brain functioning during the EF tasks with functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS).
