Project Description:
As a University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center provides the expertise and leadership to help make individuals with disabilities in Tennessee and across the country a part of their communities. The Center works with and for people with developmental disabilities and family members, service providers and advocates, researchers and policy makers. Four major activities of our Center include Training, Service, Research and Dissemination. Areas we emphasize include education and early intervention, employment, health and mental health and quality of life. Our programs are strengthened by the leadership of a Community Advisory Council. The Center is one of only eight centers in the nation to be both a University Center for Excellence and a national Mental Retardation/Developmental Disabilities Research Center. As part of a major research university and medical center, the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center is strategically positioned to conduct research, training, and service.
