SAGE: Rural Community Living Development Peer Mentoring: A Strategy for Sustainable Knowledge Translation
Project Description:
The project goal is to implement a rural community living development mentoring program in partnership with the Association of Programs for Rural Independent Living to facilitate the adoption of existing NIDILR-funded products to address the needs of people with disabilities in unserved and underserved rural communities. Objectives include:
1. Train CIL staff to use RCLD process with community stakeholders to identity community assets and areas of improvement for PWDs
2. Implement RCLD processes with CILs to identify contextually appropriate NIDILRR resources
3. Collaborate with APRIL to develop mentoring strategy for KT
4. Evaluate RCLD process using participatory evaluation to understand how products are adopted in rural places are used
5. Disseminate variety of products and strategies
Expected outcomes:
1. increased rural stakeholder adoption of NIDILRR funded products
2. increase CIL capacity to reach consumers in unserved and underserved rural areas
3. increase awareness of rural disability needs in NIDILRR research community
4. increase disability awareness & collaboration in RCLD communities
5. adoption of RCLD mentoring program strategies.
Expected products: ready to use NIDILR funded products, RCLD mentoring training model, peer reviewed publications, reports, consumer provider-oriented materials, presentation.
