Project Description:
The mission is to sustain a cross disability coalition that collaborates and communicates with one voice for all persons with disabilities and takes positions on issues to support the interests of individuals with disabilities and their families. The purposes are formed are without regard to race, color, creed, national origin, sex, age, or physical or mental disabilities and goals include; a. To respect and maintain the dignity of the individual with a disability. b. To honor a person's freedom of choice and right to self-determination. c. To promote fair and full participation of the individual and their family. d. To advocate all individuals should have equal opportunity and necessary support for employment, and safe accessible and affordable homes. e. To recognize the value of self-advocacy. f. To support the development of accessible high-quality services that use best practices and are delivered by an appropriately trained workforce. g. To recognize the importance of community partnerships and collaborations. h. To believe all individuals should have access to affordable health care. i. To do all things and engage in all activities that fall within the scope of Alabama law and Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3), and within the scope of such rulings and regulations interpreting such code section.
