Contact Information:
Project Description:
TRIAD staff will provide person-centered trauma-informed (PCTI) care through curriculum development, support sessions, learning communities, workshops, and social events to 30 adults age 60 years and older with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) who have a history of trauma, 20 elderly parents or aging siblings who care for an older adult with IDD, and 30 professionals who support them. The goal is to improve participants' emotional well-being and involvement in developing futures plans. The measurable objectives are to have one modified curriculum for each service population, weekly support sessions with 30 older adults with IDD, weekly learning communities with 20 elderly caregivers and 30 professionals, 9 PCTI care workshops including train-the-trainer for family caregivers and professionals, and one connection to a monthly social event for 30 older adults with IDD. Anticipated measurable outcomes include increased in well-being in PCTI indicator areas among participants. Data from surveys, interviews, observations, and focus groups will be collected to determine project impact and to record promising practices. NDCPD will use a train-the-trainer model, evaluation, and dissemination of resources and lessons learned to help sustain the program.
