Project Description:
The overall project goal is to create a sustainable training curriculum and training program for family members, direct support professionals (DSP), and self-administered services recipients. USU will create a comprehensive training curriculum and corresponding hybrid asynchronous/synchronous training modules based on research-based practices to support meaningful community access and relationship building for HCBS recipients. The training curriculum will include information on: (a) HCBS settings rule, (B) person centered planning to support community integration, (C) facilitating and maintaining relationships in the community, (D) ecological assessments to determine community-based support needs, (E) instructional design for community integration and access, (F) meaningful data-based decision making. Once the curriculum and modules are fully developed, USU will pilot the training with 20 family members, 30 DSPs, and 20 self-administered services recipients. After conducting the pilot training, revisions will be made to the curriculum based on feedback. After final adjustments are made, USU will launch the training modules. USU will also collaborate with Utah Association for Community Rehabilitation Providers (UACS) and other HCBS providers to identify staff within agencies to serve as a technical assistance (TA) liaison and facilitator.
