Healthcare Delivery of Preventive Services for People with Disabilities
Project Description:
Disparities between people with and without disabilities in receipt of certain clinical preventive services have been established in prior research. Much of that research is focused on cancer screening, with less known about disparities in receipt of other types of clinical preventive services. Similarly, some research has identified barriers to receipt of certain types of care, but the literature on barriers and facilitators for people with different types of disabilities receiving different types of clinical preventive services has not yet been synthesized. Moreover, little is currently known about existence of an effectiveness of interventions intended to ameliorate barriers and improve receipt of preventive services among people with different types of disabilities. The purpose of this project is to conduct a systematic review of: 1) barriers to and facilitators of clinical preventive services; 2) interventions to address barriers.
