Project Description:
The ADD Core grant is the umbrella project that leverages funding from multiple other sources to provide all the services that are offered through the Arkansas UCEDD/LEND. It enables the Center to provide Interdisciplinary Preservice Training, Continuing Education/Community Training, Technical Assistance, Direct Clinical/Model Services, Other Direct/Model Services (directly to individuals with disabilities and their families), Demonstration Services, Research/Evaluation, Product Development, and Information Dissemination. This grant supports most of the infrastructure for the Center such as salaries of staff who provide financial support, procurement, travel, administrative services; the cost of leased space, utilities, copiers, etc.; computer equipment for staff; and funds for DD Network collaborative projects. If also supports the Community Advisory Committee (CAC) to provide input and advice for Center activities. The activities that occur through this grant are guided by the 5-year plan submitted to ACL each funding cycle. This year's grant will include a significant expansion in the area of fetal alcohol spectrum disorders because of the number of children who appear to be entering the system with these symotoims as we come out of the public health emergency. The Associate Director, hired at the beginning of this grant period, completed her dissertation of FASD and has a significant interest in research and services for this population, since they are rarely identified or served appropriately.
