Missouri Family to Family Leadership and Engagement Academy
Project Description:
The Leadership and Engagement Academy will be implemented in two phases by trainers with and without disabilities.
Phase One: Self-determination and Self-Advocacy: Participants will learn to apply the Charting the LifeCourse (CtLC) framework and tools to make life decisions. This is a peer-to-peer training which provides the practical, "how to" tools necessary for anyone who is interested in being a self-advocate and in making choices and decisions about how they live their lives. It includes:
• Three weekly 90-minute self-determination workshops. (Live; on-line and/or in-person)
• Three CtLC workshops (approximately 2 hours each)
• Monthly Peer to Peer Groups (on-line and/or in-person)
Activities in this phase will help participants learn to lead their own planning meetings, map options for transition, discover their strengths and assets, and establish their vision for the future.
Phase Two: Leadership and Advocacy: This phase will focus on the core competencies of leadership for individuals (and their supports) who are interested in being leaders, helping others, and partnering with organizations for quality improvement. This training includes six, two-hour sessions:
