Beneficiary Employment Technical Assistance & Planning (BEE)
Project Description:
The intent of this project is for the UAA Center for Human Development (CHD) to provide coordination, technical assistance, information dissemination, and pilot project management to promote increased employment for Alaska Mental Health Trust beneficiaries. This work builds on previous beneficiary employment technical assistance to enhance the reach and impact of the Trust's Beneficiary Employment & Engagement Focus Area.
This technical assistance project was formerly coordinated by the Governor's Council on Disabilities and Special Education until capacity and changing organizational priorities highlighted the need to transition the project to a new home. Beginning in FY24, the project will be established with the CHD to ensure a broad focus on multiple Trust beneficiary populations including those experiencing developmental disabilities, mental illness, substance use disorders and traumatic brain injury.
FY24 activities will focus on the transition of key activities from the previous grantee including identification of appropriate staff and negotiating/establishing applicable contracts, such as the ongoing "Alaska Disability Benefits 101 (DB 101)" resource contract with the World Institute on Disabilities (WID).
CHD will work with Trust staff and the previous grantee to identify and consolidate beneficiary related employment resources into a single accessible website to ensure reliable and consistent information for beneficiaries, providers and policy makers.
CHD will incorporate a four-school pilot of the Traditional Indigenous Transition Skills project into this FY24 scope of work.
