Project Description:
Dr. Chris Knowles will complete the following:
• Design and facilitate three professional development sessions on dates that are to be determined by both parties. Each session will occur in-person and will last approximately 2.5 hours. Session options include:
Session 1, January 4th, Team Dynamics workshop: This session will be for classified certified teams.
· Introduction to group dynamics in busy educational settings, and why they matter
· Defining your roll within your team
· When we take something too personally, and what to do about it!
· Developing strong communication links
· Efficient, collaborative problem solving that is student-centered.
January coaching: Five coaching sessions across teams, scheduling can be outside of Wednesday PD time, if needed
February Session (date TBD): Behavior Bridges: How to understand that behavior, even the challenging kind, is a form of communication.
· What are they getting out of doing this? Refresher of different "functions" for one's behavior
· Prevention strategies based on student needs
· Fill those buckets! Meeting student needs before a challenge occurs.
· Collaborating as a team to address student behavior challenges
· Hitting the RESET button: Changing the trajectory of a challenging situation
February coaching: Five coaching sessions across teams, scheduling can be outside of Wednesday PD time, if needed
March (date TBD): De-escalation Workshop
· Overview of the escalation cycle and what that looks like across elementary and secondary settings
· Prevention is power!
· Do's and Don'ts for adults in the room when a student becomes agitated
· Considerations when working with students with disabilities
· Understanding adult and student co-regulation
· Three low-effort strategies to problem solve with students from any age!

Assessment
Prior to session 1: Pre-assessment sent out via Qualtrics form for teachers and classified staff. The pre-assessment will take 15 minutes or less.
Post-assessment sent out via Qualtrics form for teachers and classified staff. An executive summary of results will be provided by June 2023. The report will also provide suggestions for next steps related to provision of PD services for classified staff.
