Project Description:
There is a great need in our state for skilled professionals within the DD workforce to develop positive Behavior Support Plans for IWDD who are living in the community. This project was developed to provide training for those individuals who may serve in that role as plan developers. The training offered through this project is somewhat unique in that it is very participatory. Teams of individuals are sent from provider agencies. The training is 5 days long separated into 2 days, 2 days and 1 final day. In between the training sessions, participants are required to engage in activities such as data collection and analysis that walk them through the process of conducting an FBA and developing a BIP. At the conclusion of the training a test is administered. Certification is based on passing the test and submitting an appropriate PBS plan for a consumer served by their agency.
