Engineering Internships for College Students with Autism

Project Description:
A collaboration between the University of Arizona's College of Engineering, the Disability Resource Center, Department of Medical Engineering; State Vocational Rehabilitation; and Raytheon and Texas Instrument Corporations to develop and pilot a paid internship program for college students with Autism focused on student recruitment, individualized supports, HR and supervisor training, professor and advisor training, employment, and sustainability. Currently two Autistic Engineering students are participating in paid internships with the participating businesses. Project staff are providing support for the students and training/technical assistance to the company HR and supervising personnel.
