Project Description:
The Sonoran Center for Excellence in Disabilities will share its personnel, resources, and expertise in partnership with Arizona State University's Center for Health Information and Research to conduct the proposed work related to exploring, understanding, and responding to homelessness in Arizona. Specifically, the Sonoran Center will contribute to completing Aim 4 focused on defining and operationalizing transitions to and from homelessness and the benefits and impact of current programs. The proposed activities to be completed by the Sonoran Center include: • Coordinate and facilitate focus groups with state agency and organization administration in Arizona who provide services for individuals experiencing homelessness to determine what's working and gaps needing to be addressed. • Conduct interviews with middle managers and the direct service workforce who are providing services and supports for people who are currently homeless or have transitioned from homelessness to determine their experiences and recommendations. • Analyze qualitative data and design a survey reflecting the input and feedback provided by participants for large scale data collection. • Disseminate the survey through multiple listserves, social media, and relevant contacts to identify the issues, challenges, needs, and effective practices currently being conducted. • Analyze survey data and summarize findings with emphasis on the costs and benefits of programs and interventions. • Complete a member check of participants representing the homeless population including direct service, middle managers, and administration to share findings and verify interpretations and results accurately reflect their experiences and identify any additional factors. • Engage state agency decision makers who serve homeless and disability populations and strategically discuss the issues, findings, strategies, and innovations for effectively preventing, serving, and transitioning out of homelessness. • Provide a final report highlighting the findings and responses to questions addressed in Aim 4.
