Project Description:
The Sonoran UCEDD will expand activities to increase access to COVID vaccines for people with disabilities in Arizona (AZ). The AZ DD Network is collaborating to ensure an organized and coordinated response to the vaccine needs in our state. We plan to build on the feedback we have heard to date from individuals and families as well as our research and activities to guide our response to ensuring all citizens have access to the vaccine with needed supports and questions/concerns addressed. Our initial plan is focused on: Developing public service announcements to be aired on television and radio stations and other multi-media messaging. Designing plain language and multi-language resources where gaps in information are identified. Conducting webinar trainings and information sessions by people with disabilities and those representatives of different cultures. Implementing a buddy system of connecting and outreach by people with developmental disabilities to others with developmental disabilities. Addressing access and support issues experienced by individuals living in rural areas, small towns, and border communities.
