Center:
Fiscal Year:
2024
Contact Information:
Project Description:
To develop training materials to assist public health professionals and paraprofessionals in deflecting admission of individuals with disabilities to nursing homes, and to use those materials to train public health staff, families, and people with disabilities about their right to avoid congregate settings such as nursing homes. These settings placed residents at high risk for serious illness and death during the pandemic. The project will expand the public health workforce with the skills to deflect youth and adults with disabilities from nursing home placement and to support their families. The project meets the aim of the funding source through diversion from high-risk congregate settings to community living by expanding the trained public health workforce.
