Project Description:
Revisiting the Childhood Autism Risks from Genetics and the Environment (CHARGE & Re-CHARGE) Projects In ReCHARGE (Revisiting CHARGE, 2018-2023), Dr. Schweitzer is following up on the CHARGE children from all three diagnostic groups (developmental delay, autism, and typically developing), at ages 8-12 and ages 13-22, to understand developmental trajectories for each of these three groups. Outcomes of interest are the longitudinal change in diagnoses, cognitive and adaptive function, and symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety or depression. Mechanistic studies will also be conducted, including an intergenerational epigenetics study with parents and grandparents. We currently have 939 participants enrolled.
