Project Description:
Project DIG aims to develop and pilot a community-led and community-based horticultural therapy program to support the quality of life and community participation goals of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Missoula County. This proposal spans 18 months. It includes community stakeholder engagement and proof of concept activities in Phase I, and we will pilot the program in Phase II. This program will (1) facilitate intensive community stakeholder engagement and capacity building activities, (2) establish a strong proof of concept, and (3) conduct a pilot program with a local disability service organization. Expected benefits of this project include increased social, cognitive and psychological well-being, participation, and skill development for participants, and best practices and detailed guidelines for building a community-led horticulture therapy program
